Jennifer Allman is an American Southern visual artist and educator whose work explores the connections between place, memory, history, and storytelling. Inspired by meaningful landscapes, cultural heritage, and the traces people leave behind, she creates artwork that invites viewers to look more closely at the stories embedded within the places around them.
In addition to maintaining her artistic practice, Jennifer teaches high school visual art and encourages students to develop creativity, observation, and personal voice through the artistic process.
Capas de Memoria—Layers of Memory—grew from my fascination with places that leave something behind in us.
Inspired largely by Mexico, but extending to landscapes, histories, and experiences closer to home, this collection explores how memory transforms what we have seen. Architectural forms, natural elements, fragments of culture, and traces of human presence emerge through layers of color, texture, imagery, and mark-making.
These paintings are not intended to document places exactly as they appeared. Instead, each piece reflects how a place becomes intertwined with memory—and how it remains with us long after we have left it.
Follow the development of new paintings, the memories and places behind them, and occasional glimpses into my creative process.
